Hi,

We get lots of places that can write records by using quick event write in OI or Write comment in programme. I want to develop a backup system for our app. So before the record is changed the system hold the old record and save it to other places. I want to use MFS to do this so I do not need to change so many places. From my reading I think I can make one MFS to do this. I just started to learn how to use it so any basic things are really welcomed. For now I have installed a MFS on one table. Can somebody please email me the MFS shell at [email protected]? or give me some sample codes that I can start from?

thank you

Ray

Actually we're reasonably confident that despite the apparent multiplicity of developer names posting from IES you have at least ONE Works Developer there so you might want to also track them down and ask for help internally too.

We have never done this before and have read every word of the documentation.

We are looking for a simple method to capture records when they are written so that we can save them in a backup system for retrieval at a later date if all things turns to custard. There are many screens which update the same file and hence require a lot of changes.

It just seems strange that you're not using the simple sample MFS from the online documentation as this clearly shows how to write and use an MFS. What additional information are you looking for that is not covered in the sample code in the online help?

what I did to install a MFS:

1. log into the sysprog

2. create 'RAY_MFS' and do the compilation

3. use SET_MFS in TCL to add 'RAY_MFS*IES' to 'TABLENAME'

then i get a error msg 'X105: RAY_MFS*IES object code does not exist in the sysobj table.'

I checked sysobj. There are '$RAY_MFS' AND '@RAY_MFS'.

I really feel confuse about this. Then I use 'MFS_INSTALLER' from help system, still get the same error code.

thanks a lot, working on it.

It appears that you compiled the MFS in the SYSPROG account.

Compile the MFS in the account, then retry the SET_MFS or try SET_MFS 'TABLENAME', 'RAY_MFS'

rather than

SET_MFS 'TABLENAME', 'RAY_MFS*IES',

Ray,

Some years ago when I wrote the notes to MFS_Installer - I tried to spell out the use and implimentation - whats not clear?

What is your MFS like?

Have you thought about where it will fit in the MFS chain?
