I am to make a new project where I have to manage the general information of people (for example name, telephone, address, age, etc.) the table is very basic however the number of registrations is considered that it will be of around 9 millions. The system will use to take out statistical and reports of all this information with 6 concurrent users. If some of you had had the necessity to manage this quantity of information or more, I wanted to ask you the following questions:

Is it convenient to divide the table in several tables, or can I manage it in an alone one without the process of reports will be slow?

What is the operating system that you recommends me to use in this case?, I have used Novell 6.5 and I find it very well, but I never used it with a quantity so big of registrations

It will be convenient to use this or another operating system?
