Okay, I'm assuming that when I hear beeping when I'm in a form that something is "wrong" or there's something that I need to look into. Well as I am developing and testing various forms, I have been hearing "beeps". Before I get too far along, does anyone have any suggestions as to what I should be looking at to determine what's causing my forms to beep? The beeps aren't necessarily reproducible, that is, when I move to a control, I may hear a beep. If I move back to it again, I may not. The only think I can say for certain is that I will hear beeping within certain forms.

Here's my personal beep experience:

I have this window/function that updates indexes. Each index is removed with Delete_Index and rebuilt with Create_Index. For every 10th index or so there is a beep - during Create_Index. There's no error status. In System Monitor all I can see are "Sorting" and "Building" messages. I've asked the finest doctors on the Web, but nobody's been able to help me. But I've never discovered any errors in the result (the indexes) either, so can it all be a product of my imagination?

Thanks, but unfortunately, that didn't help ;-(. I don't see anything inappropritate.

If you have any other suggestions, I would appreciate it as the forms appears to work, but the "beeping" can be annoying.

Also- If the system monitor is open, it will fill up and refresh after it hits the 64k limit, and it beeps when it does that.

I spoke too soon. I didn't realize that you posted another response in the Work section before I responded here. Your last response (see above) identified the culprit in this case. I typically keep my system monitor running (not that I'm sure of what I'm looking at), but it is a useful way for me to launch other forms, etc. (boy do I miss the old TCL).

Don't forget that S/List (Even the free crippled version) has a TCL!

Look for the little black plug where the speaker leads in your PC meet the motherboard.

Then yank the plug out.

I have a couple of utilities that create tables, fields or indexes. If I run them with the System Monitor open, there are a lot of messages displayed. And if there are enough messages the System Monitor reaches a limit, beeps and clears the messages before continuing with new messages, just like you explained. But I often get beeps also when I run my utilities without the System Monitor open. And it least in my latest experiments the beep seems to happen at the point in time when the System Monitor would have reached its limit, if it were open.

So can the System Monitor beep even when it's not open?
