We are having a problem with specific print reports where the first two pages print correctly then we get a blank page then a printed page and another blank page and then a printed page. We did not have this problem when we were using HP4/5 but we recently switched to Ricoh digital duplicators. When we did this the problem occurred. Note that not every thing printed has this issue.

My suspicion is that the printer timeout is the problem. It may take longer for the Ricoh to setup the page and causes the underlying driver to time-out. Then it starts a new spool page (assuming Win95/98). Is this a network printer or a local printer? Was the printer set up to print MS-DOS jobs?

This printer is a network printer. We use Win98 and run revelation on novell but have our mailserver and printing running through an NT server. The Ricoh was set up to print from dos. I will check on the printer time out issue though - hopefully you are on to something.

I've seen this sort of problem when the ARev printer environment is set for 60 lines per page, and the print document contains sixty lines (sixty CR/LFs), and then a form feed. You might try setting the default number of lines per page to a lower value (mine is always set at 59). From TCL, access the Hardware Menu by pressing F5 and typing RUNMENU HARDWAREEnter, then select Printer-]Environment.

Thanks to everyone. I think I solved my problem. What I ended up doing was setting the lines per page on the New Ricoh to be the same as the OLD HP (66). The Ricoh had been set to 63. Hope this is the answer we will see how everything else prints as the day wears on.
