Hello:
I won't go into the details as to why (I have my reasons) but I've finally got Windows XP mode and Windows Virtual PC loaded onto my Windows 7 Professional (64) machine. I have a USB 3.5 floppy disk drive. I have fresh (never used before) installation disks (properly purchased from Revelation).I'm in the Windows XP virtual machine. I can see the files on the floppy. But instead of being on drive "A:\" they are on drive "A of (machine name)". I double click on the INSTALL.EXE file. It tries to start the installation process but almost immediately it give the message saying "Cannot open script file!". The only thing I can do is to ESCape out.I noticed that there is a "C of (machine name)" and a "D of (machine name)" as well as the drives for "C" and "D" in the Windows Explorer. I wasn't able to get a disk size of C or D of (machine name). What look to be the virtual disks of "C" and "D" in the XP Mode environment. After getting the Windows XP Mode and Windows Virtual PC loaded, I spent the time doing Windows Updates to get everything XP related up to date. Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to install AREV 3.12 (not AREV32) onto my stand alone Windows 7 machine. This is a personal machine and not connected to a network. Thanks,

XP mode in Windows 7 is not a true virtual machine. It does not have access to the network in the same fashion a real virtual machine does. As I recall I think it used NAT (Network Address Translation) with the host computer's IP address to communicate on the network. Also, it does not allow the same access to local drives (as you've already identified).
Arev isn't supported in any platform but based on the limited experience I've had with the XP virtual machine mode I recommend you try something like VirtualBox which doesn't have the limitations of the XP mode virtual machine.
My opinion of the XP mode limitations is to Microsoft wouldn't undercut the companies trying to sell virtual machine host software. Notice, you didn't need to enter a license key for the XP mode virtual machine. Using a real virtual machine would require a license code/key for XP since it's licensed differently.

Hello:
Thank you for the information. I'll look into VirtualBox as you suggested. What I'm after is to get AREV 3.12 up and running on my Windows 7 machine, where my machine is not connected to a network or anything else. Completely stand alone. Then I can do what I need and want. Mainly to be able to show a potential employer my work. Short of that, be able to get text files print outs of samples of my programs. It wouldn't hurt to be able to go in and do some more programming to help keep up my skills. My goal is to get AREV 3.12 loaded so I can them install a couple of applications where I've done most of my work so I can demo or get samples from. Thanks,
