I want to be sure that my subscription to the works does not lapse. Looking at the product page for 'The Works' today on your site I noticed that it still states Quarterly release of sw (existing or new).

Since I have only released 3 disks can I wait until the 4th cd comes to continue the subscription (at the 499 for current members) OR do I have to pay by the end of '97 (and does that then mean that I can expect 5 disks?).

I am slightly confused as the current posting from Jennifer states that 'The Works' first year has completed.

Thanks In Advance

David,

I posed these same questions to my sales rep at RTI. You will get a full year's worth of upgrades from the point you signed on - even though that means for those people who started in the middle of '97 they would have had to been given all of the versions from 3.2 on up. You will be notified by mail when your subscription is due.

I mentioned that it seems a little unfair for someone who started late in the Works program would be given all of the upgrades from the beginning and continue to get upgrades during their initial subscription past when those who signed up early would. The response was that the downside for the late starters is that they don't have this product at the same time when others do so they have to play catch-up. Additionally there is no real good way around this since 3.2 is the last base release and all others are upgrades and have to be applied in succession.

David,

As Jennifer stated, the first year of the Works program has been completed as the program began back in December of 1996. As for your membership, it does not expire until April of 1998, one year from your intial enrollment. It is not necessary to renew until your expiration date. You will receive renewal information sometime in March to allow ample time for renewal.

Please let me know if you have further questions.

Don,

First .. thanks for the note.

I understand about yearly subscriptions (starting from when you join) but what I am not sure of is that since we were told (and they still note in the 'works' section of products) quarterly releases .. I was just wondering about when they say that the first year is complete how the two mesh. I would have thought 4-quarterly releases would be complete.

Since I have not gotten anything in the mail stating that my dues are due (although I did sign up Nov '96) from your mail I will just assume that I am still active.

Thanks again for the note .. I wont worry.

Mark,

Thanks for the quick response.

I believe that I have just been confused by symantics. True the first year has been completed (jan-dec) but there have not been 4 quarterly releases as originally offered (and as currently mentioned in the 'Works' product page dealing with releasing code for new and existing …).

Since I had originally signed on at the beginning of the 'Works' I was worried that it was just calander (signon +12) but it looks from your message (stating that my beginning was in April) that although I signed on in 96 it really only took effect on the first release April '97.

Thanks again .. my big worry was budgeting the renewing of the subscription. I just don't want to loose the $499. price. Now I know I don't have to worry about it until March.
