I used my SYSCOLUMS file to list a report of all the fields in my system with Indexing. Some of the files that came back with Indexed fields did not exist …or at least I did not know where? For instance I have a file called MASTER which has 5 different indexed fields. My SYSCOLUMS also had references to files with names like MASTER_53227 and MASTER_53227_84382. Does anyone have any idea what created these entries and why they are there when the files do not exist in any vol. that I am aware of ? thanks rw

The SYSCOLUMNS table is not a real table. It uses a program to find all the dictionary rows in all the tables attached in the form TABLE*DICTONARY_FIELD. This would mean that these records should exist in the dictionary of the file named in the key.

It should use QUICKDEX on any dictionary that might have one, so it's possible the fields somehow exist in there, if they don't actually exist.
