I get this on my PC sometimes and occassionally some clients get this.

B326 Error Writing to DOS file Arevc.ini

Followed by similar errors completing with unable to locate temp file….

Then Arev in Black and White.

From memory a reboot is the only answer -

Can you advise why I get this ad if there are less drastic measures I can take?

Are your AREVC.INI, temp folder, and rollout folder defined on a network path or a local path?

It could be a network permissions/disk-quota type issue, or a failing volume.

Sometimes running OpenInsight when you try to load AREV 3.x will give this message.

I've had this error locally on my own developers version (no network but running XP), but it came to light again today when a single user client which has Arev loaded locally (even though his PC is on an active peer to peer network) and has been using it for the last 3 years, all of a sudden had this error.

A Reboot fixed it - but why did it have to be so drastic?

You mentioned defining local paths - where is this done?

Claude,

From the main developer menu (APPMAIN), select DB Admin -] Configuration -] Hardware -] Workstation. This allows you to set the rollout file and DOS sort path.

For the main INI file, you use an environment variable at the OS level to define which INI file to use. For example, on our dedicated indexer, we have a line "SET AREV=INDEX.INI". This causes it load a different INI than the default. The default path for this is in REVBOOT, so if you have copied the application locally, that should not be a problem.
