ODBC Connection (OpenInsight Specific)

Help!
We have followed the example from Sprezzatura for making an ODBC connection - without a great deal of joy.
The steps we went through were:
1. Set up the ODBC Driver in Control Panel
2. Changed the ODBC.INI file as below.
3. Added a new connection in the Client/Server Workspace
4. Chosen Access 97 from the list, saved it
5. Went into Query Window and tried to connect to the data source but it comes up with a message saying "Unable to connect to 'Access 97'"
The one key difference is we are using Access 97 rather than Access 7.0. Thus we don't have an Access 7.0 ODBC driver.
We also tried to make a connection with a text file without joy. We are using Windows 95 standalone.
ODBC 32 bit Data Sources
dBASE Files=Microsoft dBase Driver (*.dbf) (32 bit)
Excel Files=Microsoft Excel Driver (*.xls) (32 bit)
FoxPro Files=Microsoft FoxPro Driver (*.dbf) (32 bit)
MS Access 97 Database=Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb) (32 bit)
Text Files=Microsoft Text Driver (*.txt; *.csv) (32 bit)
ODBC Data Sources
NorthWinds=Microsoft Access Driver(*.mdb)
DiningIn=Microsoft Access Driver(*.mdb)
BANDAG=Microsoft Access Driver(*.mdb)
MS Access 97 Database=Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb) (32 bit)
Text Files=Microsoft Text Driver (*.txt; *.csv) (32 bit)
dBASE Files
Driver32=C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\odbcjt32.dll
Excel Files
Driver32=C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\odbcjt32.dll
FoxPro Files
Driver32=C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\odbcjt32.dll
MS Access 97 Database
Driver32=C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\odbcjt32.dll
Text Files
Driver32=C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\odbcjt32.dll

Pam,
I've just done a clean install of Access 97 (never installed it or any other version on this machine yet) and then gone through the instructions in SENL.
I've had no problems and can't reproduce the error you get. Could you try it on another machine? I can't see any problem with the INI file so I'm at a loss as to why it won't connect.

I worked on an application that used ODBC links to Foxpro. You really should use the 16bit drivers rather than the 32bit drivers. 32bit drivers need to be massaged and that doesn't always work. The 16bit drivers loaded and worked the first time. Contact me if you have any questions.
