Win98 machine running Novell Client 3.1 on Netware 5 server.
Have checked that protocol is 802.2 on server and set on workstation.
Using 3com network card. Have tried creating and loading with icon or at DOS prompt. TSR is loading when I check.
Still getting FS 461 Boot media error.

Bev,
Make sure the workstation's frametypes, (BOTH the IPX 32-bit Protocol for Novell and the IPX/SPX-compatable) are set to that of the server's autoexec.ncf file and NOT Auto. Also, you may want to try setting you Novell client's Protocol Preferences protocol order to IPX as the primary protocol.

When you installed the 3Com Ethernet cards did you use the driver that shipped with them or the driver that ships with Windows?
I had the exact same problem with 3Com's 3c574-tx Fast Etherlink PC Card for my notebook under Windows 98. I had originally installed it using the driver that shipped with Windows 98. As soon as I replaced the driver with the one that 3Com ships, the problem went away.
