I know that symbolics dependent on data in @RECORD are updated by the system, but symbolics dependent on data from other tables aren't. Is there a simple way for me to update the !Table in such a way that it will force an update to occur? Since the dependent data can only be modified by a window I would just hook this process in the save process.

Thanks,

Updating the indexes of symbolics can be done by an MFS.

I might be able to modify our solution to adapt it to a more standard AREV environment.

If you are interested in this kind of solution please let me know.

Hi Egbert,

I'd prefer just to have the general logic of what and how !Table needs to be updated. I'll make the decision later whether to use an MFS or window process to execute the process.

Thanks,

I'm sure Andrew will post the relevent code from Revmedia shortly. I tried it once in OI. It worked, though remember, this was never supported and people's milage have varied with it.

Essentially, there's dependancy code built into DICT.MFS and it will allow you to link the tables and a write in one file forces the dependant update in the other. This requires relational indexes.

All in all, it's pretty easy to set up.

If it's in REVMEDIA-FKB then I will scope it out. I have the full version and now I know what to look for. Thanks!
