Hi all,

This is something that you might find interesting and useful. I recently tried something different (although it had occurred to me to try it before) with respect to remote access to Arev. Ther result actually proved to be quite nice in terms of speed when using Arev.

I connected to my client's network via VPN. From there I used PC Anywhere to connect (network remote to network host) to a workstation directly connected to the network. On that workstation I then went into Arev and did what I needed to do. It really moved along at a very workable pace – to the point where it would be quite workable for longer periods of time.

The VPN connection was thru a Watchguard box. The network itself is a TCP/IP network. It was/is necessary to know the IP address of the host machine directly connected to the network (find this using PING and the machine name from a DOS window on your local machine). Use PC Anywhere in network Remote and Host mode, connecting using TCP/IP and the hard-coded IP address of the host machine. The local call to my ISP keeps the phone charges non-existant or minimal as opposed to a dial-up PC Anywhere connection.

Just something of interest.
