Nt 4.0 server and Win98 clients with NT service and AREV v2.12. We are unable to go back and forth from network to local printer. We use the "net use lpt1 \\server.name\printer.name /y" and "net use lpt1 /d" after printing to network printer the port setting for local printer is set to "lpt1:(\\server.name\printer.name)" The only way we have found to end the capture to network printer is from the printer folder properties (end capture) or create a desk top shortcut that does a "net use lpt1 /d".

Thanks for any help…

Why not create a program that issues a PCPERFORM "net use ….". It could check for a parameter like "NET" or "LOCAL" and you call the program whenever needed.

We never use LPT1 as a network printer because any print jobs directed to this printer will also be redirected from other users. Use LPT2 or LPT3 and use the SETPRINTER command to select the desired printer within AREV.

Hope this helps.
