The verify utility operates at a lower level than you link list error. It reports errors in the internal structure of the file. When you have a link list error message such as you got, there is nothing wrong with the file structure itself. It is the content that is messed up. In a list list error condition, you may have a situation where one record points to another record and the record being pointed to does not exist. Now if it existed but the group that it was in was formatted wrong, then you would have a GFE. I hope that made sense.

You would generally get this error if locking is working incorrectly or the file is being cached locally.
