In the recap of the user conference it was mentioned that 7.1 would be released later this year. Is there a more specific target date?

Don,
I know Revelation are keen to release ASAP. It makes no sense to withhold a release and delay product offerings in the marketplace. But it makes no sense to release prematurely either. The guys are working seven day weeks in development.
First (ideally) there needs to be feedback from conference attendees on some of the features in the beta release of 7.1 issued to them.
Second, there's a bucketload of new features. These have to be slowly worked through in testing and for documentation purposes.
Third, the 7.1 release is truly groundbreaking. Each new feature is extensively researched. The guys at Revelation have to get their heads around the new opportunities and then glean what is useful for the OI product, then research and implement. It all takes time to get 100% right. Then test it on Linux and Windows. Write code compatible with both operating systems.
I know of at least five man-years of work just in the new features mentioned in the President's letter (elsewhere on this site). Some of the 7.1 features (the couple I am aware of) have been germinating for over two years. Because they're *that* complex to implement and *that* valuable to developers.
I am confident 7.1 will place OI at the absolute forefront of the world's software development tools.

Don-
We're looking at September/October for a release, and a beta sometime in July.
Thanks
