Thanks Cameron for your reaction.
Can you tell me more about the Dict Workaround on NT? When will thta bug be fixed?
I have seen at least one more problem in the meantime :
- Yesterday I attached a directory with some files and created a form for editing one of them. The form is still there but the database manager doesn't see the tables in that specific directory anymore. Reattaching them doesn't succeed.
- Why does OI4WG hang that much? Are there any critical parts of Win NT involved?
TIA

Sometimes OI doesn't like stuff floating about in the Revmedia files. Deleting all but the file name and MFS list clears up some strange problems sometimes. Worth a shot.

In our SPR system it is doc'd as:
Double-click on an edit table that is linked to a data table. The Edit table properties window opens up. Now click on the EDIT button for the Validation/Conversion/Display . When the new window opens up, the pattern option part of the Validation is disabled. You also cannot type anything in the Validation Pattern field. The Conversion Pattern part is OK however. In order to gain access to the Validation pattern, get out of this window, click on the Default combo box and then press the EDIT button again to come back. Now you have full access to the Validation part of the screen.
Workaround:
click on "Default" combo-box first

Egbert, what we need to do is determine:
1) are the REVMEDIA entries there (LIST_VOLUME)
2) are the tables there (look in Windows Explorer using DOS names found in the REVMEDIA table or attempt to attach)
3) after attaching them you must save the database definition (DBT) kind of like how QuickAttach works in Arev

It is possible that the hang ups are caused by running on NT. OpenInsight does work best on Windows 95 and 98 although some of our in-house developers/tech support staff run it on NT (I used to until I got a notebook).

Re: OI Hangups
Have also been experiencing OI hangups when lauching the App Designer, the Editor and the Database Manager. Found after much testing that there is a "message box" floating behind all of the other windows that says "Invalid User ID or Password." and that the application would not be started.
I reported this to OI Tech support on 04/05/99. It seems to haapen only after having issued a DEFINE_DATABASE command or after ATTACHing additional tables.
