We are using OI3.5 to share data with Arev 3.11, and I've been struggling getting things to run smoothly. I cant tell if it is:
a. the Arev data that OI is bombing on
b. the way I have installed OI
c. the procedure I am using to make a table in OI
d. something I am doing that I shouldnt be doing in OI
e. the NLM not installed properly (or wrong version maybe?)
I am using the NLM client 1.12 for OI, and the NLM 1.1 for Arev (client and server). All I have done is installed OI, created an app, added one table from the Arev application, then using quickform, make one window with about 6 data columns. Everything up to this point is working fine. Then when I go to change a column, I get one of a few different error messages. For a while I was getting an RTP27 message, then I was getting a 'unable to locate temp.dict.myfile - cannont synch database and repository'. Then it put me into the impact analysis system, so I printed out that message:
SHOPSCAN
SYSPROG*DBCOLUMNPN_MASTER.PART_NBR SHOPSCAN*OIWINPN_MAINT
SHOPSCAN*OIWINEXE**PN_MAINT
and from there, I got a GFE error. It wiped out the dictionary, so I restored it from a backup. Also, whenever I go into OI twice, my machine freezes up (on Win95). So I need to make sure and reboot before I want to go into OI (like it didn't actually unload a DLL the last time I was in OI).
Here is my setup;
win95
novell 3.12
microsoft netware client
Sharing data with Arev 3.11
both OI and Arev are installed on the network.
What is anyone else having problems like these? I really am excited about the potential of OI, but I feel like I cant even try developing anything in it, without it messing up the system worse. ?????

Mick,
The first thing I would do is to make sure you have the revparam file installed with 'serveronly=1' being the only line in it.The second thing I would do is to make sure that the NLM is properly installed. If you log into arev and from the tcl type edit systables voc you should see on the 5th line six f's. If you do not you do not have the NLM installed correctly. In OI you would open up systables then sysrepos from the system editor and look for the same six f's. If they are not there you need to make sure the nlm is loaded on the server and that the ipx/advanced netware driver is being used by OI (netdrv) and Arev(who). I would also upgrade the Ipx/advance netware driver for Arev from 1.10 to 1.12. This can be downloaded from our webs site. And did you do the client install for OI?
I hope this helps shed some light on what is going on.
