Our remote access system has been working for years on Win 2003 server when suddenly we can't operate in run time mode.

Oinsight.exe stays in memory and program doesn't load?

I tried to turn DEP on and exempt Oinsight but this did not help. Totally disabled DEP but no help.

What version of rc4.dll should I use? Tried many w/o success.

When I run it w/o dedicated indexer it works fine but when I load indexing machine is on error will happen every time.

Turning indexer off fixes it but no index???

Pls help, thanks.

What version of OI and the Universal Driver are you using?

OI v8.08 and UD 4.6.0.2

The UD 4.6.0.2 should have rcl4.dll that matches these attributes:

MD5 HASH: F44220C6086FF7B466F4511F9B07609E

How is your run-time and development system segregated?

If you launch the run-time system oinsight.exe do you see the splash screen and arrive at the login prompt?

If you temporarily replace your run-time oengine.dll with the development oengine.dll are you able to launch the application?

Any different when launched from the server or a workstation?

No development on that remote access system.

I can run run time also if I shut DOWN DEDICATED INDEXER, XP machine.

As long as that is running I get to login screen where to select application but that doesn't help and I do not want that screen but my own login screen.

How to email to you UD locks list?

What is different between the indexer and how users connect? Does the indexer run on the server or a workstation?

I suspect something (or someone) is accessing the .lk or .ov files instead of going through the service. Probably the indexer since not running it clears the problem.

Check your servers "Open Files" list in the computer management window. If you see any .lk or .ov files then someone isn't using the service. The only program that should be accessing .LK/.OV files is the LinearHash service.

Also a utility like OpenedFilesView http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/opened_files_view.html will show you what local programs have files locked.

This system has been working as it is fine since 2006.

As I mentioned already Indexer is XP (dedicated workstation) on the network which is accessing OI on mapped drive X:.

All users, even the ones on the network access the OI via remote desktop connection.

Computer Mgmnt shows no .lk or .ov files open.

OpenedFilesView shows numerous .lk or .ov files open when Indexer is running.

When I run application on the terminal server machine OpenedFilesView shows numerous .lk or .ov files open.

When I run application on my computer using remote access OpenedFilesView shows numerous .lk or .ov files open.

Everything is working normally as long as I do not start Indexer?

What application was accessing the .LK/.OV files. Only the lhXXsrvc.exe (where XX applies to your version) process should be accessing the .LK/.OV files. If any other process, SYSTEM, Explorer.exe, OInsight.exe where opening the files during normal usage then it appears that the revparam may not be setup properly.

Do you have any errors in the application event log from LinearHash service?

The last sentence in the error message indicates the problem. 1022 corresponds to FS1022 which means:

FS1022: Maximum number of OpenInsight users exceeded.

Verify the indexer, production, and development engines are correct. Maybe your serial number / user count for one of those systems was damaged. Check the "OpenEngine" window and click "EngineInfo" button for each system while it is running.

Oengine v8.0.3 says max. 14 users which is correct but indexer on I can't have even 2 users.

This is one terminal server system so there are no multiple locations.

I went to my indexer script and removed Set_IDXSvr(1), re-compiled the window and everything works?

Then I put Set_IDXSvr(1) back, re-compiled the window and now everything works as it suppose?

Can't figure this out.

Based on a previous posting it appears your primary system is in c:\revsoft\oinsight. Is this the location of the system with set_idxsvr() and the 14 user production system? I.e. do they run the same oinsight.exe or different executable files?

I can't explain why recompiling the window would resolve this problem unless there was some sort of OS or OI upgrade. There must be some detail that is missing from the problem. Please let me know if the problem continues.
