Need a pointer or two on OLE. I want to display a rich text document on my OI form, so I've created an OLE control, and using Microsoft's OLE/COM viewer found out that the ProgID of the Microsoft Rich TextBox Control is RICHTEXT.RichtextCtrl.1, and I've entered this into the TEXT of my new OLE control. Problem is, the OLE control refuses to beleive it is anything other than a browser, and will only display the standard Microsoft "The page cannot be found" message. How do I convince the OLE control that it is indeed a rich text control?

Ta.

Jonathan,

I tried that exact ProgID and it came up correctly. Are you sure you don't have a slight typo?

Jonathan,

Put an ole control on form and then pasted your RICHTEXT.RichtextCtrl.1

into the text line for control property. Works fine on compile.

BTW keep reminding me to send you the wrapper for mscomm32 serial ocx.

I have had exactly this problem on two PCs and have been in discussion with Rev UK. They have reproduced the problem by renaming the OCX - suggesting that somehow the OCX, although present and correct, isn't being found. Therefore looks like Windows registry problem - but my registry entries look OK.

If this is causing me so much grief, should I add this functionality to app and then find I'm besieged by clients experiencing the same?

Alternative is to use Rich Text Edit option in the OI Edit Box - except that, although this edits Rich Text beautifully, it doesn't read or write the RTF script from/to file and one cannot get at it to do so. However, I'm led to expect that there will be ways to use the Rich Text Edit option in OI 7.2 - so I'm all agog! This will seem infinitely preferable to getting one's knickers in a twist with the OCX.
