OI32 and Mac OS? (OpenInsight 32-Bit)

The built-in VPN client supports the Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol over Internet Protocol Security (L2TP/IPSec) and Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP), and is compatible with Cisco and Microsoft VPN servers. Does anybody know if this will work with OI32? Would JOI work?
Thanks, Sandra

Not necessarily. Depends on how concerned you are in how you get there. We have succesfully run AREV and OI using VirtualPC and other OS or Chipset emulators on the MAC. Locking even worked. Performance was similar to running OI through a remote control (e.g. PCAnywhere) program.

The real question is: would anybody run OI through VPN even on a PC? Perhaps some do but we don't recommend it. Assuming a default configuration of your OI application, the whole system would have to be pushed through the VPN pipe. This is like running on a WAN. My personal opinion is that performance would be too slow to be useful.

Another option is to put OI on a Citrix/Terminal Server and use their connection client to run the system ala remote control. They have clients for the Mac which work very well.
This is highly speculative on my part, but OI 7.0 is supposed to be able to run natively on Linux. Mac OS 10.x is supposed to have a backbone of Unix. We don't think it would take much to cross the divide and have OI designed to run natively on the Mac.
Would JOI work?
Absolutely! If your UI needs to be rich then JOI is the best way to go. If the UI isn't so demanding then you can simply use the OECGI and create HTML interfaces.
