Trying to run OIPI_Example1 in SYSPROG and I get "SYS1244: The script contains an invalid character" Any suggestions?

This message usually means you did not type "RUN" before the program.

I copied the source from the help and replaced what was already in Stored Procedures and then compiled it. When the Exec: command is OIPI_Example1, the error message SYS1244 comes up. When the Exec: command is run "OIPI_Example1" the error message is SYS1220: The object code is missing.

David,

Try doing the same exec command, just without the quotes:

RUN OIPI_EXAMPLE1

What about RUN OIPI_EXAMPLE1 - the quotes are for parameters…

Not quite sure who to respond to but here goes.

With Exec: RUN OIPI_Example1, I first get a popup window "Stored procedures can be executed in event context only" After clicking on that, the hourglass appears and then I get an debugger error "ENG805 Set_Printer, line 1 Function GetNextWindow does not exist in dynamic link library USER32"

Is there part of OIPI that I haven't installed?

Well this implies it should be run from the system monitor so try that first. The GetNextWindow is ringing alarm bells :)

When I RUN OIPI_Example1 from the System Monitor, it worked OK. I then shut down and restarted OI and tried the same command from the System Monitor and got "Fatal Error with the INIT Message". I went back to the System Editor and tried running it from there and got the same results as before but then tried again from the System Monitor and it worked OK. Something seems a little screwy.

Also, how do I get rid of the Evaluation Only message on the output?

David,

I don't think you mentioned it yet, but which version of OpenInsight are you running?

I hadn't mentioned it, but its Version 4.13. I wanted to stick with it because the client that I'm doing the development for is currently running on Revelation and several of the workstations are still Windows 98.

David,

The evaluation message is caused by a missing OIPI.LIC file. Make a request to info@revelation.com for one. They usually turn around and send it back very quickly.

In the past, I wouldn't run my OIPI tests from the old system editor because it was always out of event context. Usually, I'd create a test window and call the printing test from there.
