Has anyone written an ID (1 and 2) tag read/write routine. If so would they be willing to share?

Seems like a good starting point. I also came across the following definition in another program:

Which is really only part of the picture, after looking at a few MP3s in a hex editor. I was able to read THIS information at the end of a file with a simple OI script, but there's definitely more to be covered as you'll see in the first link.

I hate posts like this - too interesting not to spend some time on it.

thanks .. I have been reading up on the standard formating etc .. just wanted to be sure someone here hadn't invented the wheel .. i would rather roll on 'as jimi would say' than invent it

forgot to mention .. you are right about 128bits but only on 1.x version of the tagging system.

version 2+ started putting everything on the beginning of the file with encoded bytes for size etc. must have been a bit head

I have a php/Basic+ routine that scans a directory (tree) of mp3 files and stuffs the ID1 and ID2 data along with the filenamepath into an lh file. If you'd like my sources to hack, I'll share
