I installed UDP on our WinServer 2003. Since I have a local copy of OI 4.1.3. in my laptop,I install UDP client on my laptop. My laptop connects to the server/internet using Wi-Fi (801.1a)

This is what happens to my local OI copy in my laptop after UDP 3.0 client installed:

1. If the Wi-Fi is on, OI loads and does thing at a very-very slow speed.

2. If I turn off the Wi-Fi, OI loads at a normal speed.

3. If I switch back to network driver 2.1, OI loads at a normal speed with or without the Wi-Fi turns on

What cause this problem ? Now,I have to turn off the Wi-Fi before working on OI.

Rudhy,

Since we haven't yet fully implemented the UDP in our office (way too many clients running on 2.1 or lower) my best guess is that your speed problems are related to the search mechanism that the UDP uses to find a REVPARAM file. There have been other discussions related to start up speed and this has been the explanation. I would do a search on the discussion boards and see if any of the responses by Pat McNerthney are helpful. If memory serves, he plans on making a slight change in order to improve some situations.

Rudhy,

As Don said, I did find a problem when you access directorties that do not contain a REVPARAM file anywhere in the directory hierarchy. Also, make sure your TCP/IP settings for the WiFi interface are all correct. Things to look for are the DNS or WINS server settings and the default gateway settings.

Have Kevin send you the latest Universal Driver release and see if that makes a difference.

Yeap, putting the revparam speeds up everything. I didn't have it before in my laptop.

Thanks.
