I'd like to change a user's User Level programatically while leaving the password unchanged, but I'm getting differenct behaviour in OI 7.2.1 and OI 8 compared to OI 4.1.3. But would I get seems contradictory to other notes on the forum/bug tracker - so I'd like to confirm…

In OI 4.1.3, I can

 CALL CREATE_USER( username, '', level, 1, 1, '')

and this will change the level without changing the user's password. (If I want to clear the password, I use 'NONE' as the password).

In OI 7.2.1 and 8.0.3, this command will clear the user's password! Passing null or 'NONE' as the password have the same effect.

So my questions are:

1) Is there some other way to change a user's level while preserving the password in OI 7.2.1+ ?

2) If not, can anyone else replicate the above? If so, then I'll add it to the bug list.

I've found that this also happens in the Database User Management window. If you bring up a user that has a password, change the Access Level only, press Update - they will then be able to log in without a password.

I tried this on a fresh install of OI 8.0.3 in the SYSPROG account, so I think it is a bug, which I'll log.
