There have been several references on this forum that it's possible to upgrade OI 4.x to OI 8.0.6. However, when I look at the upgrade for 8.0.6 in the download section, it states that this upgrade is for OI version 8.03, etc. Is this description incorrect? Can this be applied to OI7.x? If not, where do I get this upgrade (OI4.x to OI8.x)?

I thought I might soon start playing/testing with OI8, etc.

Thanks.

Ray - We have been performing this over the past year across the customer base in order to upgrade the oengine licences. The approach we've taken is to download each patch between 4.x and 8.0.3, then 8.0.7 (.0.8).

With each patch - expand the patch into a directory of its own which leaves you with say 1/2 dozen directories. Then from each directory run the setup.exe, one after the other and you're work is done. Takes just on 15 or so minutes to do the whole lot at a leasurely pace.

At 8.0.3 you have to get the update licence so it becomes a little more tedious.

Hi Martin,

Thanks for your reply. However, I think that it has been said that there's a way to do this in one upgrade. That is what I'm looking for or am I misinterpreting what I have read or have been told on this forum. RTI???

I know that I can do what you suggest. I guess I'm looking for a "Treat" and not some "Trick".

Sorry for the miserable whatever. Happy Halloween!

Ray,

Martin is correct.

From 7.2 you can upgrade to 8.0.

From 8.0 you can upgrade to 8.0.3.

From 8.0.3 you can upgrade to 8.0.7 or 8.0.8 or 9.0.

So it is a three step process to upgrade from 7.2.x to the latter versions of 8.0 or the initial 9.0

Hi Sean,

Thanks for the clarification. I must have mis-read something. For some reason, I thought that there was a one-step upgrade process, which I would consider very desirable since it will save me time and etc.

Always looking for an easier way :-), but shouldn't we?

Ray -

You'll have to stop at 8.0.3 because of the DLL requirements.

We can get you from 7.x to 8.0.3, and then you can go from 8.0.3 to wherever you want.

Hi Mike,

I just looked in the download section. The 8.03 upgrade indicates that it's for OI 8.x. Will the 8.03 upgrade work on OI 7.x? Or is this upgrade labeled something else? Or am I reading too much into your response and Sean's response is the correct and complete response.

Thanks,

Ray
