I have seen JOI mentioned a few times.

I assume it is JREV.

Just got News letter from RevelationUK that says it is now available, and can be used from OI to create controls and acess LinearHash.

Q1.

How can we get it.

Q2.

Can it be used without web access, just a NT network.

Can it be integrated into a current running aplication without major rewrites.

Barry-

JOI is not Jrev.

Jrev was an IDE with component management software.

JOI is a toolset that can be applied to an existing Java IDE, such as Forte or Jbuilder, that will let you access linear hash data for forms, functions, data, dictionaries, etc. We use technology from Insitech Group to accomplish this.

It is available now, but we're working on the pricing. Call for a price if you need it now. We should have an eval ready for download in a bit.

It needs to use OI version 3.7.4 or better. It uses OICGI to pass the data back and forth. You need either a WDP or Unlimited SDP.

There is NO repeat NO rewriting that needs to be done on your application side at all. Installing JOI adds a few programs and tables to your copy of OI, in the SYSPROG application, and then you can just use it.

More details to follow in coming weeks.

Thanks-

InsiTech's web site is www.insitechgroup.com. Check out the software they have. It looks really cool.

Personal opinion is this is a much better route than jRev.

Barry,

Just a quick note in addition to Mike and Aaron's comments.

Look under www.insitechgroup.com in the ProJect section of the Website. ProJect will now become JOI under Revelation, and be fully integrated in their toolset.

For more info on the look and feel of the product, please check out the Setup Information link under the ProJect News part of the page. This will take you to some of the documentation (with screen shots) on how ProJect is installed, and how you would use it to build a simple data-enabled Java form against an OI table.

JOI will contain more wizards that will make the above even easier, but the Web documentation is a good start.

Like Mike said, more info will be available on from RevSoft in the next few weeks. You will also get a chance to see JOI in action at the RoadShow in June.

We have to pay for it!!

If we aren't getting Jrev, shouldn't we be getting JOI. The Works renewal was promoted for JREV.
