I am also running Windows98 SE and am having identical problems following a move from 4.1 to 4.1.1. Although the repository outline and windows controls seem to have dissapeared, they are in fact present and clicking on an area where a control should be activates the code behind the control.

Mmm…looks loke a possible W98SE issue.
Great, are we now going to have to tell clients they have to be upgrades to W2000 or XP Professional.
Really, RevTech, what is the direction on W98SE…you origionally said 32bit would run on W98SE.

Barry-
We're working hard to make OI32 work on Win98SE. We would prefer to not support it- 98SE's internal 32-bit implementation is inconsistent at best, and has caused us to spend tremendous amounts of time and effort to work at all. Initially, I had decided that OI 4.1 would not be supported on 98SE because I was not convinced that the platform was stable enough for our 32-bit and Unicode changes. However, after floating this idea with some of our partners, we decided to give it a shot because so many of our clients are still running an old platform that even Microsoft will stop supporting shortly.
I apologize for the issues you are experiencing. We are working on fixes now, and should release them soon.

No problem. I am chuffed that you have responed in a positive light to issues in the "Real World".
The reason for a lot of users staying with W98SE is they see it as stable, albiet the blue screens every so often.
I have heard horror stories in the upgrade to W2000 & XP.
Even I am not in a position to advise clients.
BTW. IF there was a client who was going to buy a new PC to run OI on , what is the best OS for a single PC system and the best for a Network. (Best=Most Stable/OI upgrade path friendly)

Barry,
Sorry about that, this seems to be something I introduced at the last moment in the 4.1 cycle with regards to supporting UTF8 data on Win98.In the meantime, if you invoke OpenInsight with /ANSI, all seems to be okay.Pat

Ahh getting there
/ANSI works for me.
Now
/DV=1 /SN=NONE /ANSI
Formdesigner says "Unable to load DataBase"
remove /SN=NONE and is OK

Of course, this does create the side effect that the external tools cannot access it, since there is not a server name with which to attach to it with.
