OI 7.2.1

At my site, sending a report to a CSV file directly and then running one in the Preview screen works fine. At three customer sites (all runtimes, same version of OI, but from clean install rather than multiple upgrades of works version, all installed for months and otherwise working fine), after creating a CSV file, user must exit application and restart before preview screen will work again.

Any suggestions on settings to check or fixes that might be needed to get the preview screen to work after creating a CSV file?

Karen, the creation of a CSV file has no relation to the preview screen. Does the processing actually create the file and do have a successful end to the preview.

Yes, the CSV file is created (here and at customer sites). The routine is identical at both sites, so OIPI is properly closing.

At the customer sites, I can see the preview screen attempting to initialize when I try to preview a report (after creating the CSV), but it stays minimized and almost immediately closes. I get no error messages displayed, so don't know here to start to find out the problem.

Are there any 7.2.1 patches that address OIPI (perhaps I missed installing one)?

Try a report after running a csv processing and place a debug bfore terminating. Check the properties in the debu and look for the vsprinter properties. Check to see if it is visible or not. Also what is the 5th parameter of your init statement.

Found the problem, thanks (had to upgrade a 3rd party control at the client site).

Nice one Karen.

Could you please provide the detail of how you solved this one?

Which control was it?

I wasn't going to comment … since it was S/LIST. I had thought everything was identical (and copied over current code just to make sure I did) and finally started looking at the few third party versions of software (not an easy one to check, with only the viewer there and on a runtime system).

An old version at the customer end was apparently not closing properly (as Bob mentioned), so future OIPI sessions never started up properly. Installing the updated viewer fixed the problem. Magically, the entire issue went away. The customer is happy (one site likes to send many reports to Excel and we have that as an option on the report manager for pretty much any report using a LIST command, so they ran into this error about every day and only recently mentioned it).

3.10.22 was installed at client site.

Does not occur in 3.10.23 (was installed here) or 3.10.24 (which I installed at both sites). Haven't tested .25 yet, but assume since it was found and fixed in .23, it will stay fixed, at least for a while.
