I am using OI7.1.

I have a form with Check controls and in some instances additional Text controls. The reason being, the Check controls only allow one line of text; or do they? Anyway to get around this problem I have created an associated Text control with a custom Click event with the Click event being promoted. Now when a user clicks on the Text control, the associate Check control gets checked/unchecked. Great!

Now all I want is to get the focus working for this Text control. I would like the focus 'dotted box' to toggle with this Text control. How can I get this to work?

My thanks and regards to Don (SRP) and Andrew (Sprezzatura) for their respective documentation regarding Custom Events & Promoted Events.

You CAN make a multiline check box. Just set the Raw Style bits appropriately. Bit too busy to post an image so, Windows Style Bits

Andrew, I could kiss you! ;-) You've just saved me from loosing ALL my hair!

Works a treat. I'll have to remember to test 7.2 before we upgrade.

Still I've learnt something out of all this; how to use Promoted and Custom Events. I was wondering what those Raw Style Bits were for. I must read up on them, very useful.

Cheers!

Reliably informed this has been fixed in the next 7.2 beta cycle.

Where could you find the information…or is it just "Style" codes interpreted into bit form.

Barry,

Window styles (normal and extended) are documented on the MSDN website, but to fully interpret them you'll need a copy of winuser.h so you can get the actual numeric values (they are never given in the documentation - they are only refered to by their 'equated' name)

The Presentation Server Style bits are specific to OI and not covered by MS, but they were covered our OI Window Structure documentation that was released with WORKS)

SRP also have a utility that describes style bits and helps you to set them without the Raw Style Editor, so this is worth checking out if you want to investigate further.
