You should be able to do long to short / short to long now. I put these in per your (excellent) feedback during the beta
mode is the first argument to Utility_FileDlg, where
1=dialog
2=long to short
3=short to long
if you call Utility_FileDlg(2, longfilename) you will get long:@fm:short
if you call Utility_FileDlg(3,shortfilename you will get the long filename back

Yes, the intent is that contributers share extensions via the colloberative source. I feel like we barely scratched the surface of what is possible. I have some examples that didn't make 3.74, which I will post. I encourage everbody to contribute. The breadth of experience in this community ensures that people will encounter problems I will not imagine; the depth of experience in the community ensures that people will deliver solutions I cannot develop.
