I have OI8.0.3 and Vista Ultimate

In formdes if I change a value in the dict via set-]details and then try to save the form I get "the DATA\ table is not available".

(DATA\ is the folder where the table is). The result being that the dict.table rev files have been DELETED….they were there when the form was opened. It is like the real dict is being deleted instead of the temp one.

Can anyone verify (on a backup) that this is not happening on XP and VISTA. Rev guys can you check for me.

Barry,

I tested 8.0.3 on XP SP2 using the steps you described and everything worked just fine. I don't have Vista close by to test in that OS.

All the files are in a folder DATA

If I change the Folder name I dont get the error.

If I create a folder DATA and create a file then a window and change I get the error

If I create the same account in a clean copy of OI create file in DATA etc etc I dont get the error.

If in that clean copy of OI I copy my original DATA to DATA (remove add etc), I get the error.

So ther must be a bad "system flag" somewhere?????????????????

Barry,

In DATA volume, created a file called BARRY with 4 fields, KEY1, F1, F2, F3.

Loaded FORMDES, create new form called BARRY.

Quick paint.

Test run.

Go back to FORMDES.

Modify F1 to be MD2

Test run.

Go back to FORMDES.

Modify F2 to have default TIMEDATA.

Test run.

Go back to FORMDES.

Open Table builder.

Changes are there, though dict is locked.

Tried using test run with actual and temp tables.

Vista Business, OI 8.03. All latest updates to Vista.

If I copy the OI system to an XP machine with the files in DATA, the problem does not occur.

Only OK on the Vista machine if files are not in DATA.

Found am old copy of the OI system that I havent touched for a while on the VISTA machine, same problem.

So must be something outside of the OI system. Cant see any reference to DATA in the OINSIGHT.INI.

Fordes has crashed a few times in VISTA (Windows - problem has occured looking for solution - or whatever)

Any other settings that could affect the running of FORMDES.?

Barry,

Does this error only occur through the Form Designer? Is this issue the same when using the Table Builder?
