Hate to bother you all on this, but sofar I haven't gotten any response back from Sambar.

I really want to be able to run the Excel Web Query and play with it. I thought it was pretty neat when I saw it recently. I installed Sambar on a Windows 2000 Server. When I try to launch Sambar, I get a message saying: Failure initializing service, see server log.

A summary of the Server og is below:

Common library initialized… Message (severity 99) file: D:\ver4\COMMON\Source\Cmnet.c (891) Unable to bind to port 80; the port is in use by another server. Failure starting the HTTP listener… Forced closing of all network connections… Finished closing of all network connections… NO OPEN THREADS… Server Checkpoint Closing with 0 open connections… Network Listener closed. Server Memory released. Server library exited… Common library exited…

Windows 2000 I believe is setup to use port 8080. Could this be the problem. If so, can anyone tell me how to change Sambar to use port 8080 rather than port 80.

Thanks. Other solution/comments would be welcome .

Thanks for the lighting fast response. Out of the box IIS will use port 80. Try stopping the IIS services associated OR try and configure Sambar to use 8080. Well here's where my ignorance will show . I don't know how to configure Sambar to use 8080. When I click on Sambar, I get the error message. I don't see any options to allow me to change any properties or setup parameters. Maybe because it's free you aren't given this capabilities. I'll give the port thing a try. I'm still playing with the Inet Procedure (which I just copied from somewhere ) to make the web query work. Should be easy, but obviously I'm missing something. (please no wise crack) I'll play with this again later when I get a chance because I would like to get it to work. I think it will add something to our app. Therefore don't me surprise to hear from me later . Thanks, Ray </QUOTE> View this thread on the Works forum...
