I have a strange 'happening'.

StandAlone PC

I have OI running on drive E:

I copy the OI Dir to another drive (C:) to do some radical changes and testing.

The copied system takes 15 secs to load as apposed to 3sec.

The same if I copy it to another PC. (Say laptop)

Can anyone tell me why this happens and how I can fix it.

Barry

I take it E: isn't a RAM drive is it ? or some super duper fast disk ?

I'm not sure why this would happen but, have you tried rebuilding the system indexes on the copy? Just a thought.

Barry,

Just a thought. Is C: much larger / smaller or formatted for FAT32 (hence larger / smaller block sizes which may affect the efficiency of the read depending on the file / record sizes).

I may of course not know what I am talking about here :)

Mine - with a local copy of OI - is 11 seconds. So I don't feel so very sorry for you. :-)

But I envy you your 3 seconds on your "E" version. :-(

Perhaps we should have a poll. Or a competition ("Mine is shorter than yours!"). :-)
