If the LHService is running and you dont have a REVPARAM file, what are the ramifications as far as server based processing\file integrety.

It's tantamount to not using the LH Service at all. All locking is done locally.

? - As I understand it, the LH Service will still be used if it can be found - even if there is no REVPARAM (assuming a compatible network driver). The danger is that if some workstations don't find the LH service then they work in local mode, thereby not coordinating with those using the LH service - not a good situation!
Correct me if I'm wrong.

The revparam file with the "ServerOnly=1" forces locking to be handled by the Service on the server. Not having that means the locks can be handled locally - like you suggest. I do not believe that the Service may or may not handle locks if there is no "ServerOnly=1".
If you have the Service, let the Service handle the locking - do not depend on the workstations.

Should the documentation with the UD perhaps be updated to reflect that "ServerOnly=1" is required, rather than "ServerOnly=True", and a CR/LF after the end, resulting in a 14 character file (unless the problem with mixed AREV/OI environments under Novell and possibly other platforms has been corrected .. which did not appear to be the case from other postings last month):

Unless, due to some network glitch or poor network configuration on the client, the workstation on occassion might not detect the LH service?
The "ServerOnly=1" switch is a way of telling the workstation explicitly "Yes, there is a LH service running on the server, and if you can't see it then go away"

Karen,
The Revparam parameters:
ServerOnly=True and ServerOnly=1 are equivalent. ie. either will do.The requirement for a CRLF (Enter) to be appended may have been lifted, but as practice we do it to be on safe side.
