The title says it all.

One of the most restrictive/insular aspects of OI is its inablity to handle Long File Names. I know its 16 bit etc etc….

But we ar now living in an age where LFNs are the expected norm.

I note Carl Pates was developing a utility some years back, but it hasn't eventuated - or has it? It should have been introduced into OI years ago… will it ever?

Claude,

This is a recurring problem with our clients too. We have an image database with the images stored externally as image files. Again and again we have clients who need more than 8 characters to fit everything they need into the file name. Again and again we have to disappoint them, or come up with some kludgy work-around.

I don't believe RevSoft will ever come up with a solution.
