Recompiling doesnt work, new form doesnt help either.
Tried setting manifest, themes etc.
Any fixes or details on how to fix it please.

This isn't a common problem with OpenInsight so I'll need to gather some additional information about the problem scope.
Is this limited to the one server or does it happen on multiple systems?
Does it occur in a fresh copy of OpenInsight?
Are you connecting to the server through Remote Desktop?
If you disable/enable desktop composition does the problem change? Note, if you're using Remote desktop this won't apply. Desktop composition is changed by right-click "Computer → Properties → Advanced System Settings → Performance Settings". Look for "Enable desktop composition" in the list of options.

Jared,
On server and local pc.
On Remote desktop, network and local
Tried disable/enable no change
Then I installed a new copy, and all worked ok with new form designs.
The I started comparing files in original installed folder and new install and deleted heaps of dlls and unwanted files.
Still no luck.
Then I copied files to a new folder different name and all worked ok.
However when I rename the folder to the original foldr name it doesnt work anymore, same files.
Then I tried to duplicate on an old laptop.
Without deleteing any old files couldnt make it work by renaming the folder.
Then I copied the files that worked from the one pc to another and it still worked using different foldername
Then I changed the folder name tothe original foder, and IT DIDNT work anymore.
At this point I am still confused.
Summary
The files that worked doesnt work if you change the folder name back to the one where the upgrade was installed from.
Could be a regedit setting, turned off the service as well.
Could be an internal setting somewhere that records the folder name?
Could be oipinet
or .net but didnt run the client setup on old laptop?
Will have another look and advise.

Gary, this is a strange problem. I'm suspicious of a security setting, adware, or virus scanner blocking the loading of DLL files.
If you copy the application to the local computer and run clientsetup.exe does it run consistently?
If you copy the application to the local computer, run clientsetup.exe, and then reboot the computer in Safe Mode does it work consistently?
Lastly, when the controls disappear after being clicked, is the application in development mode or run-time mode?

Has there been a resolution for this problem as I am experiencing the same disapearing effect with checkbox and radio controls.
The disapearing controls happens only on the workstation and not the server. If I run a local copy, the controls appear. If I run a local copy and use the server as the start directory, the controls appear properly. But if executed from the server on the workstation, the controls tend to disapear after being clicked.

The problem hasn't been completely identified yet and as far as I know there hasn't been any activity since the last post in this thread. We haven't been able to reproduce the issue in the LAB for proper troubleshooting.
Could you please run a test for me. Try restarting the computer in safe mode with networking support. When you run OpenInsight in this environment from the network does it work correctly?

I Fixed this as follows in the end.
I Reinstalled a fresh 931 full download
Then wrote a procedure that checked the files in my current folder with those freshly installed. ie time date
Found I had a lot of old dlls etc that wasn't in the new install
You can delete them and try to see if that fixes it
or
What i did was
Copied all my rev*.* and repos files as well as oengine.* from existing to new install, (deleted the fresh install files first).
and all worked like a dream.
On server2008, citrix, windows7 etc.
It seems some of the old dlls in there must be causing the problem.
Make sure you have backups…..

Thanks for posting your solution! It's surprising to see that the location determined if OpenInsight loaded correctly or not. How did you get to version 9.3.1? What was your version and what updates did you apply to get to 9.3.1?

Restarted workstation running Windows 7 in safemode with networkings and same issue persisted with checkboxes and radio buttons. Server is Windows 2008 R2 with LH4.7.
Is there a list of current DLL and OCX for 9.3.1 that I could reference and start removing old DLL that are no longer used (or a list of the latter would be better).

Jared,
I upgraded via normal upgrade path to vers 931
Then downloaded new 931 installation as well.
Then did as described above.

Jared,
I would like to correct my previous statement as it's just the checkbox acting up but in different ways depending if it's a form or dialog box. The radio button did act up at one point but seem to be working fine now?!
-forms: once selected, checkbox text disapears and reappears once another is selected
-dialogs: Some checkbox text do not appear until 2 to 3 seconds after the form has appeared and the acts the same as the forms. Disappears when selected and appears when another is selected.

This is a follow-up post after a conversation with Paul. He narrowed his problem down to differences in the name of his oinsight.exe. For various reasons he renamed his oinsight.exe to another name. When the system was launched as a exe with a different name (something other than oinsight.exe) the check boxes and radio buttons would disappear when clicked. This has been reproduced in the lab and we are investigating.
Paul, thanks for pointing this out and narrowing it down.

Thanks for the suggestion, Captain C suggested the same idea. It didn't have an effect at first but It turns out that the manifest should be renamed before the renamed EXE is launched for the first time, otherwise the manifest isn't checked. It appears windows caches the manifest so if you run the EXE without a manifest the app cache reflects no manifest and the problem occurs. There is probably a way to refresh the app cache and re-read the manifest but I don't know off the top of my head.
Bottom line, if you must rename oinsight.exe be sure to rename the oinsight.exe.manifest file before you launched the renamed EXE.

Thats it - During the upgrade {filename}.exe.manifest was removed.
