Recently had the opportunity to rebuild some indexes using OI 413. Have these comments:

1) I would also appreciate any feedback on anyone using the newer DM_MAIN. It may be only me, but in rebuiliding/adding indexes the newer DM_MAIN is not as "reliable" as the older version. I wished I had more specifics, but can only relate my recent impression. That is, when I remove/put indexes back on some good size files (300,000 and large) that we had more problems such as things would "Hang". When I resorted to the older Database Manager things worked swimmingly…

For this reason, the older Database Manager is our preferred vehicle for issues related with indexes.

Does anyone care to share their experience on this issue as I

2) When removing Indexes using the new DM_Main, the "remove" message is not correctly updated. That is, if four indexes are being removed, 1 of 4 ( or something like that ) is displayed for all indexes.

3) Is it possible to incorporate the progress bar from the older database manager for building indexes? IMHO it gives better feedback to the user on the indexing activity.

4) This may be a small thing, but when setting the delimiters in Crossref, I (my preference) prefer the use of checkbox as used in the older Database Manager. The new one shows the Ascii or Hex Value and I have to double check that Ascii 44 or 45 or Hex 2C or 2D are "comma" and "hypen" respectively.

I've had problems with the LH_verify in the new DM_main where it would not pick up GFE and to run it through the old Database Manager would.

There's another post on the beta site also regarding the new database manager. It's probably a smart move that RTI did not remove the old Data Manager too soon.

RTI: Any coomments on the new Database Manager. If there are fixes, will we receive this in the form of an "OI413b"?
