I have a system where the PDF option of printing in OIPI does not work.

History:

I converted an OI from version 4 to 9.4.4. I upgraded a system off to the side to version 9.4.4 while customer continued to use version 4. When go live day came, we copied data from version 4 system to new version 9 system. (this worked great) Then we moved the old version 4 off to the side and moved the testing system into production. That is the testing version 9 from a place on the server to the production folder so all could see and use. (that worked great) So we have 2 identical systems. 1 in production and another for testing and new development.

Problem:

When we print to PDF in the testing system all is good. Print using OIPI and telling the INIT statement we are printing to a PDF.

When we print to PDF in the production system (which was copied directly from the testing system) the PDF printing does not work. I even print to viewer and save as a PDF and that DOES NOT work in the production system.

So I think it has something to do with a configuration and the place the printing comes from.

Has anyone seen this or can offer some help on where to look?

Thanks,

I gather you see this when running OI for both system from the same workstation. I forget if printing to PDF requires access to a temp folder with full read/write permissions but that might be an issue for you.

Yes. This is on the same workstation. I am using Remote desktop to access there system. I run the report in the testing system and all is good. I close that OI and pick from the same desktop the production OI. There the PDF fails. Same computer same session and same permissions. And I am writing the PDF to the same network folder.

My thought was that OI might be creating the PDF elsewhere first and then moving it to your destination folder. I know it does this for other export types (e.g., .CSV), but I don't recall if it does this for PDFs. Since these are different OI repositories, they might be configured to use different temp folders.

Interesting. I did not think of this.

Where is such a configuration maintained?

I'm traveling so I'm limited in my access to notes and systems but I think this is determined by the Database Manager > Environment Settings > Sort Path.

FYI,

I changed the Sort Path and that made no difference. Thanks for the suggestion.
