Is there a parameter for UB messages (created for AREV originally) to be positioned on the screen in a place other than dead center?

Karen,

Column Position 6 & 7 of the message structure passed to the MSG function are for the respective X & Y coordinates of the MSG window.

Refer to the Help for the MSG Function for all the Column Positions available to pass through to the MSG function.

I was attempting to use those … but no luck. Setting row or column to 2 (msg equates/help says that will be #pixels, assume from the top left corner) - the message always displays centered.

Negative numbers seem out (the few mentioned define centering), so positives should measure from some corner, somewhere, correct?

Do both have to be specified to get out of the middle? Or can one be left blank (to get a top, centered msg, for example)? If both have to be specified, does the program have to calculate the window position and size to center the missing component?

Related to that … how would one determine the message size (the current window size is easy), so that one could specify the correct x/y location to center the message on the unknown axis?

Since there is to be an AREV32, presumably someone has put some thought into the old messages to be displayed - where one could specify a row count and leave the column blank, letting you put up a message that would not stay hidden behind a collector window, but which would stay centered left/right on the screen – the same need will exist in OI, just with a dialog box and the message to display up above.
